SOLD. SOLD. American Primitive Tobacco Cutter Mounted in Box C. 1870

Sold. Sold. A primitive tobacco cutter permanently set in an open box with hand forged knife and mounting hardware. Pine box measures 12 in x 10-3/4in. x 3in. Original red stain. Nailed butt joint construction.  Cutting block possibly bois d'arc (osage orange) which is an extremely hard wood. Cutter was found in East Central Texas. Bottom boards appear to have been riven by a froe. Cutter handle is hickory. C. 1870
