An English baluster shaped hot milk jug with a mirror black glaze and decorated with hand colored enamels and gold. Hinged pewter lid in the form of a scallop shell. Earthenware button on tab lifter. Clay body burns red and is only slightly apparent on the foot rim. Black body pottery of this type is called "Jackfield" by collectors but was made in several places in England, particularly in Staffordshire. Condition of this piece is excellent with no types of damage. Height is 7 inches.
