A japanned tin lidded spice box. Encloses 6 small japanned lidded tins, each labeled with a spice name, as follows: nutmeg, spice, ginger, pepper, cloves, mustard and 1 duplicate cinnamon which is now labeled "java cass(ia)". All of the tins have contents except for "pepper". Labels are applied cut out individual letters except for "mustard" and "java cass.." which are applied banners. Condition is very good. Hinge and lock hasp are sound. Also the ring lift. Top of lid has light overcoat of black paint and a dent or two. Box is 9 inches dia., 6-1/2 in. tall with ring down. This box is the real thing from the late 19th C.
