SOLD. SOLD Large Early Turnscrew (Screwdriver) 18 in. Long C. 1910

$95.00

Sold. Sold. An early English turnscrew (screwdriver in today's language), 18-1/4 inches long. Steel blade marked "Warranted Sheffield Made". Handle made of yew. Handle with decal: "Superior Quality Sheffield Made". Heavy cast brass ferrule secures the blade to the handle. Handle flat on both sides for best grip. (Flat handle aligns with flat of blade for reference, tool lays more neatly when stored...). This tool with its beautiful yew grip and elegantly shaped and finished shaft and blade most probably was designed for a "gentleman's" use, that is for one who didn't use it professionally. C. 1910. Very good condition.
