A pair of rare Camark Modernistic/Futuristic Vases, Model 517. Blended pink and gray color. Art director Alfred Tetzschner is credited with this model and other Art Deco type ware of the late 20's through mid-30's at Camark. (See David Edwin Gifford's two books on this subject.) One of these vases retains its brown "Arkansas" label used 1928-early 30's. Both are marked on the foot "Camark" in block letters. Not so plainly, but the "CA" is easily seen on both pieces. This 1/8 in. die stamp letter was used from early to mid-30's. Both of these vases have the same exterior dimensions but the vase with the label is thicker walled. Perhaps a mold change was made and the 2 were part of different runs. Condition on both is very good, The labeled vase has a small chip on the edge of one foot and the other has a small glaze hairline at the rim. 8 inches tall.
